Newly-freed inmate tests positive for COVID in Bauan

Bauan, Batangas – A 36-year-old man here, who was just released from prison, tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19 on Saturday, the municipal health office said.

In a Facebook bulletin, the municipal health office said the patient was immediately freed from prison and brought to his residence in Barangay Inicbulan, Bauan after the Batangas City police received the court’s release order.

This was done pending the results of his throat swab. The  local government only received  the test results Saturday. Immediately after, barangay officials had advised the patient to isolate himself as part of health protocol. Since he arrived, the patient has already been isolated in a separate house.

In its latest report, MHO said as of June 27, Bauan has 17 confirmed COVID cases with 11 recoveries.

Provincewide, DOH-Calabarzon said Batangas so far has 297 confirmed COVID cases, 30 deaths and 192 recoveries.
