Vendor shot dead in Batangas

 

Batangas City – A 74-year-old man died after he was shot by an unidentified gunman in his small store at the shoulder of the national highway in Barangay Mahabang Parang on Tuesday morning, the Batangas City police said.

Supt. Manuel Castillo, Batangas City police chief, identified the victim as Paterno Puno, a resident of said barangay.

Initial investigation said the victim was at his store at around 6 am when he was shot by the suspect using a caliber 45 pistol.

The wounded victim was rushed to the Batangas Medical Center for medical treatment but attending physician Dr. Geraldine Plata declared him dead on arrival.

The suspect, meanwhile, immediately fled on foot towards unknown direction after the incident.

Police recovered from the crime scene four empty shells and two deformed slugs of cal. 45 pistol.

Police authorities are still investigating the identity of the suspect and his motive for the killing.
