The Growth Corridor

The Filipino Connection will focus its reportage on the cities of Batangas, Tanauan and Lipa, and the municipalities of Sto. Tomas, Malvar, Rosario, Ibaan and San Jose. All these areas make up the Batangas Local Growth Corridor.

This corridor has around 1.053 million people (nearly 47 percent of the entire provincial population), with at least 700,000 of the number of middle-to-upper income.

  • This corridor also corners nearly seventy percent percent of Batangas province’s local taxes.
  • The Batangas Local Growth Corridor is also an economic trail of foreign-and-Filipino-run manufacturing companies (e.g. First Philippine Industrial Park, the Lima Technology Center, and the Light Industry and Science Park III), tourist destinations, and progressing local enterprises.
  • Batangas is also among the top seven origin provinces of overseas Filipinos, and top provincial recipients of remittances from Filipinos abroad.
