LOOK: Prevailing Prices of Basic Necessities in Batangas City, Mabini and Tingloy

Last April 10, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed Resolution N-248-2017 declaring the municipalities of Mabini and Tingloy and the City of Batangas under a State of Calamity due to the recent earthquake that hit the province last April 4 and 8, 2017.
The Department of Trade and Industry – Batangas (DTI-Batangas) informs all consumers and retailers that based on Section 6 of
Republic Act 7581 or the Price Act, prices in an area proclaimed or declared a disaster area or under a state of calamity or under an emergency shall be automatically frozen at their prevailing prices or placed under automatic price control.

The Price Act provides that any retailer found selling more than the listed prevailing prices shall be imposed with an administrative fine up to One Million Pesos (1,000,000.00) under Republic Act No. 7581 Section 16 and Department Administrative Order 6 series 2007 Article 6 Section 2. The DTI enjoins consumers to report retailers that sell basic necessities more than the specified prices to DTI-Batangas Provincial Office at tel. no. (043) 7562330 or email r04.batangas@dti.gov.ph.
